SUMMARY:ETHICS TRAINING
DESCRIPTION:This workshop addresses ethics in the context of substance disorder counseling. The principles underlying all\ntreatment professionals’ codes of ethics are a focus\, as well as\, how these codes address issues relating to the\ncounseling relationship\, confidentiality\, counselor competence\, supervision\, the use of digital media and social\nnetworks\, artificial intelligence and dual relationships. Also\, participants will learn an ethical decision-making model\nthat can assist them in determining how to respond appropriately to challenging situations that arise in substance\nuse disorder treatment. In addition\, participants will learn the distinction between boundary extensions and\nboundary violations and recent guidelines to follow when considering a boundary extension. Case studies will be\nutilized throughout the workshop both in large and small group discussions to provide participants with experience\nin applying ethical and professional standards\, as well as the decision-making model\, to practical workplace\nsituations.\n− Trainer: Victoria Lahey\n− Location: In-Person TBD\n− Registration: Pending
